Regulatory Compliance
Studies that involve people's pets are thoroughly reviewed by two different committees - the Clinical Trial Review Board (CTRB) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) - to protect the well being of the pets and their owners. These committees consist of veterinarians in a variety of disciplines and specialists trained in reviewing protocols using animals. The protocol cannot be approved until the investigator appropriately answers the questions from both committees.
